Iran launched a missile attack at a U.S. military base in Qatar Monday in retaliation for the American bombing of the country's nuclear sites, The Associated Press (AP) reported. Iran said the attack on Qatar matched the number of bombs dropped by the U.S. Iran also said it targeted the base because it was away from more populated areas, the media outlet stated.

While Qatar successfully intercepted the missiles, KIRO fill-in host Angela Poe Russell questioned if American involvement was necessary in the first place.

"Was this in our best interest at this time?" Angela said on "The Gee and Ursula Show."
