The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Nihon Hidankyo, a Japanese organization of survivors of the U.S. atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, for its activism against nuclear weapons. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Florida residents are repairing the damage caused by Hurricane Milton and figuring out what to do next. The state’s vital tourism industry is beginning to return to normal. Florida theme parks including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld planned to reopen Friday.

DENVER (AP) — Authorities say one person has been killed and 12 people have been rescued after being trapped for hours about 1,000 feet below ground at a former Colorado gold mine when an elevator malfunctioned at the tourist site.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden says his predecessor Donald Trump should “get a life” and try to help people impacted by a pair of devastating hurricanes, rather than spread misinformation about the federal response.
