One of the biggest influences in my life as a kid
growing up was Looney Tune cartoons. Boy, that
sounded a lot better in my head, but it is true.
Those cartoons brought me so much joy and
taught me so many things. It is 100% the total
knowledge I have of opera. This movie is a
treasure that was almost lost!
Coyote vs Acme was filmed in New Mexico in
2022. It was supposed to be a streaming movie for
HBO Max, but Warner Bros. shelved it as a tax
write-off in 2023, never to be heard of again.
When fans found out about it, they went crazy,
writing in and making a fuss on social media. An
independent film production and distribution
company, by the name of Ketchup Entertainment,
was finally able to buy the rights for $50 million.
That is how it finally made it to theaters.
My fear was that this would not be good, meaning
that it wouldn’t be the same as the originals. The
ones that appealed to all ages. I sat on the couch
on a Saturday morning with my seven-year-old

daughter, my 11-year-old twin boys, all of us with a
bowl of Lucky Charms, they are of course
“Magically Delicious” and watch Looney Tune
cartoons. Each one of us felt like the cartoon was
written for us. Each episode no matter which
character had comedy that funny on our age level.
I know what you are thinking, that maybe my level
of world knowledge, sophistication, intelligence
and maturity never got past that of an eleven-year-
old. Eh, that’s a fair point. I’m just saying, the only
cartoon that comes to mind that consistently
appeals to all ages anywhere close to Looney
Tunes is Sponge Bob Square Pants.
The movie opens with Wile E Coyote doing what
he has always done, trying to capture the Road
Runner using complicated plans, gadgets, and
traps to finally catch and eat his nemesis. The
results being what they always are, Wile E being
crushed, run over, blown up and dropped from a
great height. Mostly because of the Acme
products he has bought and used.
He discovers a personal injury attorney Kevin
Avery, played by Saturday Night’s

Will Forte that represents cartoon characters that
have been injured by Acme products. He decides
to sue.
The movie is 1 hour 41 minutes, Rated PG for
cartoon violence and some language.
Also in this movie is John Cena playing Buddy
Crane the ruthless counsel for the defendant.
Turns out Buddy also went to law school with
Kevin and made his life miserable.
The standard Looney Tune gang is all here. Bugs
Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety, Elmer
Fudd, who is a member of congress, and Foghorn
Leghorn, who is the head of Acme Corporation.
But there are also some of the lesser known but
still beloved characters also. Tasmanian Devil,
Granny, Pepe Le Pew, Gossamer (if you know you
know), Beaky Buzzard, and more.
The bottom line is, if you love Looney Tunes you
will love this movie.
