In this edition of DER Weekends, WDET's Juma Sei talks with filmmaker dream hampton about the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the origins of the name "dream." Hampton is probably best known as the executive producer of the documentary series "Surviving R Kelly," a scathing chronicle of the singer's decades-long history of preying on young women and girls. The work earned hampton an Emmy nomination and a Peabody Award. She was named one of the most influential people in the world by Time in 2019.
