Kenneth Kelly is the chairman and CEO of First Independence Bank — a Black-owned bank founded in Detroit more than 50 years ago. First Independence is the only African American owned bank headquartered in Michigan. WDET's Jerome Vaughn spoke with Kelly at this year’s Mackinac Policy Conference about the bank’s history, its future and its commitment to serving Black customers.
