President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday calling for the dismantling of the Department of Education. We reported on Feb. 21's Detroit Evening Report that Michigan could face major challenges if the federal department is cut. Detroit Public Schools Community District Superintendent Nikolai Vitti said during a virtual budget meeting with more than 1,000 attendees that the elimination of the department could lead to many things, such as less monitoring around discrimination claims.
