Halloween is wrapping up, but that doesn't mean the fall fun is slowing down!

Dia De Los Muertos celebrations are happening throughout the region this weekend. At the Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home and Cemetery, you can enjoy a free celebration with vendors, food, music, kids crafts, and luminaries to honor loved ones. This runs from 5-9 tonight. 

Also going on tonight is the Dia de los Muertos Celebration at the Seattle Art Museum. It's the 30th anniversary of the event and there of course will be food and music, but according to the event's ebsite there's also going to be "hands-on activities that inspire creativity and learning". There's also sand painting, salsa music, poetry and more. Tickets are free, but an RSVP is recommended. Get more details at seattleartmuseum.org

The Tacoma Art Museum is also putting on a Dia De Los Muertos Festival, where there will be alters,  traditional dance performances, art activities, food and more. This event is also free and open to the public!

 At the Fisher Pavilion on Saturday it is the Short Run Comix Festival. This DIY event continues to grow and features panels, zine making, screen printing and of course your chance to buy some really cool art. Comics, buttons, art prints, and losts more will be on display from around 250 artists! Admission is free and this is going down at the Fisher Pavilion of the Seattle Center Saturday from 11-6. 

This weekend's Festal celebration at the Seattle Center will be all about Diwali! The Diwali Lights of India event will have painting, jewlery making, weaving, dancing and plenty more! If you want to learn about Diwali, check out this free event on Saturday from Noon to 6. 

At the Polish Cultrual Center the Polish Fall Bazaar! There will be booths to check out jewlery and cyrstals, pottery, Christmas ornaments and plenty more. Don't worry all your favorite Polish food is being served all day as well! The festival is Saturday and runs from noon to 5. Get more details at polishhome.org

Seattle Restaurant Week has returned! If you have been in the mood to try something new, were hoping for a good deal at a spot you've been wanting to try, or maybe you want a simple date night, there are plenty of options for you! There are different specials for lunch and dinner, with some as low as 20 dollars! Seattle Restaurant week runs through November 9th and there's a whole map and list of participating restaurants you can check out srweek.org


The Northwest Record Show returns this weekend to the Seattle Center Armory. Spend your time flipping through crates with other passionate fans of music and vinyl. There will be over 50 tables, and it won't just be vinyl. CDs, merch, casette tapes. This one is for the physical media fans out there. It'll cost you 3 bucks to get in, but the Northwest Record Show is also a food drive with Northwest Harvest! Bring in a food item to donate, and get a dollar off your admission. This is going on Sunday 10-5.

Folks it is time, Halloween celebrations are here and if you are looking to get in on the spooky season celebrations, there are TONS of options. Seriously. If you have a favorite bar or club, odds are there is a Halloween themed event going on. Just to name some, the Magnuson Community Center is putting on the Magnuson Haunted House, Massive is thowing a Halloween Party, the Sunset Tavern is throwing a 60's themed Halloween party and if EDM is your thing, the BOO Seattle 2 day music festival at the WaMu Theater might be for you. These are just some examples, here's what else is going on.


Sunday is the West Seattle Harvest Fest! This annual event in West Seattle is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday with your family. There will be pie eating contests, a chili cookoff, live music and more. Also, keep in mind the marching band and costume parade kicks off promptly at 11 a.m.


What better way to get the blood pumping than running away from scary things? The Run Scared race returnd Seattle’s Seward Park on Sunday, features a 10K race, a 5K and a 2-mile run/walk. Also, according to the website, there will be a costume contest, hot apple cider, candy corn tasting bar, free kids dash, pre-race treasure hunt, photo booth and more. In downtown Issaquah, it's going to be a takeover of the walking dead! On Saturday, dress up like zombies and walk the streets of Downtown Issaquah with the rest of the undead. There will be makeup stations to help you look your ghouliest, and you’ll also be taught a famous dance. Also, back by popular demand will be Stan’s $1 barbecue eyeballs (meatballs) and Chicago Pastrami’s bloody fingers (cheese sticks). The event is free and for all ages. Down in Puyallup it's the Washington State Horror Con! This event is running all weekend at the Washington State Fairgrounds. It's got everything you can expect from a convention, panels, guest speakers, photo ops and lots more! The biggest guest of them all and one of the hosts of the events, it is the Mistress of the Dark, Elvira! Other big name guests from the Scream series, Friday the 13th, Hocus Pocus, IT and lots more are also on the list. Get details and tickets at wahorrorcon.com

Saturday at the Glacier West Garage Plus in Spanaway, there's a Halloween Festival AND car show! Make sure to come in costume so you can be a part of the costume conteset and do some trick or treating while checking out decorated cars! There will also be a bouncy house, live music and tasty treats. This event is free and open for families! 

Fall colors are on full display at the Fall Foliage Festival and plant sale at the Rhododendron (row·duh·den·druhn) Species Botanical Garden in Federal Way. Garden tours, scavenger hunts for the kids, a food truck and TONS of photo opportunities await you this Saturday and Sunday. Plus, pop up vendors will be there selling the perfect plant or piece for your garden! Get details at rhodygarden.org

Fall is in full swing and it looks like it's going to be a wet weekend, but don't let that wash away your plans to do something fun. 

If you are wishing the rain would turn to snow so you can hit the slopes, you'll want to check out Snowvana 2024. It's the first time this event is coming to Seattle and will be your chance to gear up for the ski/snowboard season, not only with a ski swap and new and used equipment, but plenty of vendors will be offering deals on trip packages, lift tickets and more. There will also be movie screenings, a beer garden and plenty more. This is going down at the Magnuson Park Hanger and you can get details and tickets at snowvana.com

It began yesterday but throughout the weekend at a couple of venues, the Tasveer Film Festival and Market. The event describes itself as the only South Asian Oscar Qualifiying Film Festival and features movie screenings, panels, and lots more. You can get details at tasveer.org


Halloween fun is coming to Tacoma this weekend! In the McKinley Hill District tomorrow at 2, there will be a street fair with live music and vendors, a parade at 6:30 and a costume contest! This is the first time this event has been held, so why not go start a new spooky season tradition! Get more details at tacomahalloweenparade.com. The Haunted Farmer's Market in Tacoma also continues this weekend as well! 


If odd things make you a little curious, then you'll want to head to the Seattle Oddities and Curiosities Expo 2024. This event is for all ages, runs Saturday and Sunday, and will have vendors showing off taxidermy, preserved specimens, artwork, jewelry and tons more! The Occidental Square Trading post returns Saturday from 11-4. Over 40 vendors will be selling vintage items, home goods and plenty more. The event is free and as usual, food trucks will be on site to keep you fed. 

It's the final home game of the season for the Seattle Reign FC on Saturday and that means it is fan appreciation day! There will be giveaways and more celebrations during the match. You can details and tickets at reignfc.com

The Maple Valley Model Train Show is Saturday and Sunday at the Gracie Hansen community center. See impressive displays of model trains from railroad clubs. There's a play area for kids featuring Thomas the Tank Engine, a personal favorite of mine, and there will be an exhibit from the Black Diamond Historical Museum that focuses on mining and logging. There will be food trucks on site as well, and cash donations are suggested.

Happy Friday and welcome back to the weekend! Nice weather is still hanging around this weekend so get out and enjoy it! 

If you are looking for a spin on your usual weekend Farmer's Market trip, consider heading down to South Tacoma this weekend for the Haunted Farmer's market! There you will find taxidermy, crystals, tarot cards, in addition to your usual favorites from local farmers and food trucks. This is going down on Saturday in Tacoma, and will be continuing Saturdays throughout the month! Get more details at hauntedfarmersmarket.com

Also in Tacoma this weekend is the Tacoma Film Festival. A variety of films from across the world are being shown at the Grand Cinema throughout the weekend. You can also catch a ton of short films, including short films made by local filmmakers and artists.  If you are a Tacoma/Pierce Student you can apply for a free ticket as well! If you are a fan of the movie series Twilight, you'll want to head to High Dive on Saturday Night. Four bands will be putting their spin on the Twilight soundtrack by playing their take on music from the film series as well as their own. If you are getting ready to hit the slopes and are looking to get some different gear for the season, West Seattle has you covered this weekend. The West Seattle Ski Swap is Saturday and Sunday at the West Seattle VFW Post 2713. There you will be able to buy or sell skis, snowboards, winter clothing. accessories and more! There's something new going on at the Hugo House in Seattle. It's called Deaf Lit Fest and it is an event that puts the spotlight on deaf authors and also provides workshops to help take your writing to the next level. This weekend in Port Townsend it is the Olympic Peninsula Apple and Cider Festival. Learn about the world of apples and cider making while enjoying one of the staple fruits of the Pacific Northwest. There is a mix of family friendly and 21+ events and on Sunday it is Finnriver Apple Day! This is part of the Festival and takes place at Finnriver Farm & Cidery. The Festal Program at the Seattle Center continues this weekend with TurkFest! This will be tomorrow and Sunday and will highlight Turkish food, music, culture and more. The event is free to attend and starts at 11 on both Saturday and Sunday.

The weekend is here and so is spooky season! Looks like we are in for a wet start to the weekend, but that shouldn't dampen your plans

I want to start with an event sent to me from a listener:

It's the 43rd annual Oysterfest in Shelton! Saturday and Sunday there will be shucking competitions, plenty of seafood (and other tasty treats), mini golf, touch tanks and plenty more. There will be folks camping up on site as well for those looking for a weekend full of Oysters! Get more details and tickets at oysterfest.org, but I was told that Sunday is family day,  children 17 and under admitted free and there will be discounted tickets for active duty military on Sunday as well. 

It's not the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, it's the 20th annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival! This is going down today and tomorrow at the Seattle Center and tickets are required. There will be 80 types of Pumpkin Beer on Tap, a costume contest, a fortune teller and lots more! Get tickets and details at elysianbrewing.com

There's another Oktoberfest this weekend, this time down at the Washington State Fairgrounds! All your favorite food and beers will be there as well has Hammerschlagen, weiner dog races and a Bier-Lympics! This is going on all weekend long, get tickets and details at thefair.com. Oktoberfest also begins in Leavenworth this weekend as well! Celebrations will be going on the next three weekends! Get details at leavenworth.org 

A big addition to the Waterfront in Seattle is finally here! The Overlook walk opens to the public at 4:30 tonight and to celebrate there will be food, music and more entertainment! Come see why this new bridge is much more than that and experience a new change to downtown Seattle. There will be firepits, so you'll be able to keep warm while enjoying the views. 

Saturday is the Fife Harvest Fest from 10-4. Admission is free and there will be plenty of things for you to do with the kids, including bounce houses, carnival games, a tractor maze, petting zoo, hay rides and tons more! There will be free corn on the cob from the Fife City Council as well as live music and magicians! For the adults, there will be ax throwing and a mechanical bull to ride, as well as plenty of vendors to support. Get more details at fifewa.gov 

Get into the Halloween spirit with the Halloween Pet Parade at Volunteer Park! You and your four legged friends can show off your costumes and compete for prizes while enjoying live music, crafts, vendors and food trucks. Sunday at the Seattle Center it is CroatiaFest, as the Festal program continues. This event is free to attend and will highlight areas of Croatian culture such as food, music and dancing, and you can even get help with passports, visas and other official government documents from the Croatian Consulate. Happy Friday and welcome back to sweater weather! Fall just begun but the fun is in full swing. 

All weekend long it is the St Demetrios Greek Festival! Greek food, culture, music and more take center stage at St Demetrios in Seattle. According to the event's website this event has been going on since 1960 and in addition to all the food and fun, you can take a tour of the church to learn more about it's history. The event is free to attend but a heads up, if you want food or other goodies, it is a cashless event, so bring your card. More details are available at seattlegreekfest.com 

You can Walk The Block and help raise money for Wa Na Nari during their annual fundraiser. This event is two days and features workshops to help navigate the world of home ownership and a celebration of black art.  Today's Walk the Block Insitute will focus on the workshop and idea collaboration, tomorrow will be the Art Walk. This event is free, but they do ask that you register ahead of time at wananari.org 


You can learn about the world of experimental art at this weekend's SPAM New Media Festival. This event is free and if you want to see artists explore mediums in one of a kind ways or maybe you are seeking inspiration from something different, it's all going down at the Georgetown Steam Plant all weekend long. The temperatures might be cooling, but it is still prime time to enjoy the wonderful nature that is in our state. Saturday admission is free at National and Washington State Parks for National Public Lands Day! Looks like some clouds might be in the forecast, but when was the last time some clouds got in the way of some enjoying views of the Pacific Northwest. This is the second to last free admission day of the year, so don't miss out and remember to plan for other hikers and parking as well! 

Maybe instead of staying warm through the physical act of hiking, you are in the mood for a nice warm cup of tea. This weekend is the fourteenth Northwest Tea Festival! You can learn about the world of tea while trying teas from around the world. There will also be presentations from industry experts, premier tea supplies and lots more. Tickets are no longer available online, but can still be purchased at the event. The Northwest Tea Festival is tomorrow and Sunday at the Seattle Center and more information can be found at nwteafestival.org

Chow Down in the U District this weekend at the 2024 Chow Down and Street Party! According to the event's website, there will be over 120 bites from 60 different businesses highlighting all the great food in the neighborhood. These bites, and in some cases drinks, will only set you back 5 bucks per bite. While you enjoy your food, there will be live music, cooking demonstrations, dancing and more. You might have heard me talk about "The Scalpel" earlier this week, a movie from the 1930s recently brought back to life! You can see The Scalpel and lots more movies during the Local Sightings Film Festival. The Festival has been running all week, but continues through the weekend at the Northwest Film Forum. In Bothell, it's time for Sustainamania! This is going down tomorrow at the Bothell City Hall Plaza. This free event teaches people about living a more sustainable life and also has a repair cafe where folks can bring in their broken down gizmos and gadgets for repair. Limit two per person. There will also be live music, crafts, games and a Touch a Truck event. Parking is free and things get started at 10 AM.

Back in 1936, a 19 year old Seattle Filmmaker named Richard Lyford was in the middle of making his seventh film, called the Scalpel. This film was shot here in Seattle and used Lyford's signiture style and creative use of his limited resources, acting as an indie director long before the term became popular. 

However... the film was never released in it's entirety until this year.

Fall is in the air this weekend and to celebrate you can head to Green Lake for a parade. The Luminata is Saturday night at 7:30 and features a short walk and tons of custom lanterns! There have been workshops throughout the month for folks to make their own lanterns for the event,  but if you missed out on those, the lantern workshop will open at 5:30 PM. The workshop and starting point of the parade will be right around the Green Lake Boathouse. 

It's the final weekend of the Washington State Fair! It's your last chance for all your favorite fair food and rides. Get tickets and details of what's going on at the fairgrounds at thefair.com 


Oktoberfest has arrived in Fremont this weekend for what they call on their website Seattle's biggest beer festival. Over 100 different types of beer will be available to try, as well as live music, food and a couple of friendly competitions! See how strong you are during the Stein hosting contest or watch chainsaw wielding pumpkin carvers create one of a kind pumpkin art. Does Oktoberfest get you in the mood for Brats? What about Brats for a cause? The Great Wallingford Brautwurst Festival is today and tomorrow at St. Benedict School. This will have all your festival favorites, live music from local bands, a beer garden, but this is FAMILY event, so that means bouncey houses, games at the Fun Zone, a shop for sweets and more. Few things are better on the weekend than an ice cold Rainer, at least for me. It's more than just an adult beverage for some, it's a lifestyle and that is on full display during R Day. The lineup includes live music, your chance to find and buy cool Rainer merch, both new and vintage, and there's even going to be an arcade! This is taking place Saturday in Georgetown and no ticket is required! 

Head out with the kids and learn about the world of urban agriculture at the Farm Fest at Rainer Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands! This  informative event will teach people about urban agriculture, offer a variety of crafts to make and food and cooking classes! This event is free and open to the public. Support heart health this weekend at the Puget Sound Heart and Stroke Walk! This will be this Saturday at the Seattle Center and will feature a non competative walk with 1 mile or 5K Options! Proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association and will also offer a quick CPR lessons as well. Get more details at pugetsoundheartwalk.org 

At Hing Hay Park on Saturday the CID Night Market Returns! The event is free and offers an open air market experience with dozens of food offerings, arts and crafts, cultural performances and lots more. Things get started at 1pm on Saturday and goes till 9. Get more details at seattlechinatownid.com. There's also a night market going on at 37th Avenue South and Hudson Street from 6-10 on Saturday. This is the Columbia City Night Market and there will be live music and plenty more!
