The taste in the mouths of the Hawkeyes and Cyclones after Saturday is distinctly different. 

Both Iowa and ISU defeated FCS opponents in their home openers. Iowa beat UAlbany 34-7 while ISU routed South Dakota 55-7. 

Iowa's offense struggled to throw the ball with new quarterback Mark Gronowski, while Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht completed 19-of-20 passes in a 55-7 rout.
