Lamar Reviews - "A Toxic Love story" (Airdate 7/31/2026)

I will say it again, Netflix is not the only place to
find really good documentaries, but in my opinion,
it is the best place. I’ve lost track of how many
documentaries that I have watched, that not only
flipped me upside down with a twist, but then a
second twist, and sometimes a third.
Now, I know what some of you people are saying,
“Oh I saw that coming a mile away. I knew how it
would end after watching it for six minutes. I said
right off that person is the one who did it.” First off,
some of you who are saying that are full of it! Y’all
say all this three seconds after it’s over, not
before, so you don’t count. To the few of you
Columbos and Jessica Fletchers out there that
magically see exactly what is going to happen,
who the killer or responsible party is immediately, I
say this. You will never sit beside me while I watch
a show!
I watch the show the way the writer and director
want me to see it. I love the surprise, the flip, and
the twists. That is the reason we wrap a present

that we give someone. Part of the gift is the
anticipation, the surprise, the reveal. I can go on
YouTube and see how a magic trick is done, but I
don’t. It ruins the fun.
Enough ranting let’s get to Netflix’s A Toxic Love
Story. Not every true-crime documentary will leave
you swimmy headed, slack jawed and gob
smacked, but this one will.
I am very limited to what I can tell you about this
story. There are multiple players, and as you meet
them, you will draw conclusions about them.
Those conclusions will not be correct, or at least
they weren’t for me.
The basics are, Ian Diaz worked at Disneyland
with his best friend Leslie. Leslie explains how he
became a U.S. Marshall, met and married Angela.
Soon after they were married Angela started
getting emails threatening her, accusing her of
ruining the sender’s life. These emails can only
be coming from one person, Ian’s former girlfriend
Michelle. The problem is that they can’t prove it.

They report this to the police but again there is no
actual proof. It goes from email threats to stalking,
and eventually to the person sending the emails
hiring a man from Craig’s List to come to the
house and rape Angela. Finally, after Angela is
actually attacked, the police arrest Michelle and
put her in jail. Case closed. But the show is at the
28-minute mark, and you still have another 62
minutes to go. You are just getting started!
The Documentary is 90 minutes long, Rated TV-
MA for subject matter and language.
The way this is presented gives you all the facts
you need to make a completely justified decision.
Then it gives you more facts to question that
decision and make a final decision. Until it gives
you more facts to change your mind not only
about the first decision, but also the second one.
Then it gives you facts to turn everything upside
down. That is all I can say, and maybe even that is
too much. So, forget everything I’ve said and
mediately talk to no one and watch this show with
an open mind.
